Trekking
Kashmir is a true paradise for trekkers, with a number of natural trails along the mountain ranges, rolling plains, rivers, and lakes. Kashmir boasts some popular and beautiful trails. The Chadar Trek over the frozen Zanskar River is renowned globally.
Paragliding
Ideal wind conditions and landscape have given rise to the sport in Kashmir. Suitable destinations for paragliding are Sanasar, Kud, Batote, and Nathatop.
Golf
Beautiful weather and well-designed, well- kept courses have fueled the game, attracting golfers from India and abroad. The State has two golf courses in Srinagar and one each at Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sansar. The 18- hole golf course in Gulmarg is the highest in the world.
River Rafting
Kashmir is blessed with numerous rivers that enable rafting in the summer season. The white waters of the Lidder in Pahalgam is ideal for beginners, while the Indus in Sonamarg is more challenging.

Ice Skating
No sooner do the lakes freeze up in winter than tourists and locals alike bring out their ice skates to glide endlessly over silver sheets of ice. Ice skating is very popular throughout the valley, although Pahalgam and Gulmarg are renowned for it.
Snow-Boarding
Snow-boarding, a popular sport among inbound tourists, finds favor on the icy slopes around Gulmarg and Khilanmarg.
Heli-skiing
Kashmir is the only place in India that offers facilities for heli-skiing, and is the second destination in the world, after Canada, that provides this unique experience. Skiers are ferried by helicopters to inaccessible summits to enjoy the thrill of sliding down their slopes. It is an extreme sport that requires great skill and experience.
Sledding
Gulmarg and Sonamarg are two popular destinations in Kashmir that are great for trying out sledding or tobogganing. It’s one of the sports most favored by families with children.
Trekking
The famous mountain peaks like Kola Hoi, Harmukh, and Tattakutti are great for those who want to hone their mountaineering skills. However, the winter season in Kashmir is only for seasoned mountaineers and not for beginners, as the ice makes the mountain bases slippery and treacherous.
